PUMA continues its ongoing celebration of the classic Palermo sneaker. For the latest chapter, the Palermo arrives on the streets of South Africa where its vibrant colour schemes and mix of suede and leather are styled by local creators.
The Palermo was originally part of a special series of sneakers created by PUMA that paid homage to some of Europe’s most famous cities including London and Oslo.
This kick made its debut in 1980s football stadiums, where it was a staple among the terrace crowd. Today this icon of football culture makes its return for the streetwear world, complete with its signature tag at the upper, a T-toe construction, and a classic terrace gum sole.
Part of PUMA’s storied history, to this day, the Palermo’s unmistakable DNA evokes a deep sense of football nostalgia.
In October PUMA introduced the first ever Palermo campaign, starring Jack Grealish, the beloved Manchester City midfield playmaker, upstart, and style icon in his own right.
Earlier this month Dua Lipa and PUMA set the table for a special dinner party in a historic Italian villa. Embracing the effortless Italian style philosophy while bringing together past and present football DNA, the Palermo is the guest of honour, pictured in a backdrop of fresco artworks and fresh produce.
In Mzansi, the timeless low-top is styled with PUMA football jerseys, channelling a modern terrace aesthetic. The PUMA Palermo, priced at R1799, is now available in Special Pink Delight-PUMA Green, Vine-Clementine, White Vapor-Grey Gum and Black Feather-Grey Gum from PUMA.com, PUMA Retail stores, Colt45 by Al Capone, Sportscene, Shesha, Office London, Sidestep and Superbalist.
